Barbara A. Rinehart

Barbara A. Rinehart, 81, of Findlay passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Blanchard Valley Hospital due to complications from a recent fall and surgery. Barb was born on September 4, 1930 to the late Charles and Josephine (Kimball) Barth, and was raised in Fostoria, Ohio. Barb married the late Dwight “Dewey” Rinehart on July 19, 1949. They had two married children, the late D. “Chuck” (Debra) Rinehart, of Aurora, MO and Beverly “Bev” (Phillip) Knicely, of Findlay, OH. Barb had one grandchild, Nathan Knicely, of Findlay, who she counted as one of her greatest blessings. Barb and Dewey owned the current Rinehart Sugar Shack bakery for over 40 years, where Barb created delicious confections and taught classes.

Since childhood, Barb studied piano and continued to play for over 70 years at her current church, Dillon Rd. Baptist Church, Fostoria, OH and previously at Gospel Fellowship Church in Rawson. Barb delighted the residents of St. Catherine’s Manor and Fox Run Manor nursing homes with weekly sing-a-longs where she played hymns and old favorites of days gone by. Barb’s giving spirit made an impact for many people, whether it was through her smile, words of encouragement, or her involvement in their lives.

Family and friends may visit on Friday, September 23, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500).  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor’s Allen Minton and David B. Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Knollcrest cemetery. Memorial contributions in Barb’s name may be made to the Dillon Rd. Baptist Church, Child Evangelism Fellowship of Greater Findlay, or Aurora Bible Church, Aurora, MO.

  2. I am so sorry to learn of Barb’s death. I took a couple classes from her several years and enjoyed them so much. I’ve continued to go to the Sugar Shack over the years, especially for the chocolate, and always enjoyed seeing her there and visiting with her.

My deepest sympathy goes out to your family, as Barb will be greatly missed. She was known by so many people and touched so many hearts. She was filled with passion, love and kindness and shared it with everyone who came in contact with her. She opened her home and heart to anyone in need, but mostly, she gave her friendship willingly. She will be greatly missed, however, forever in our hearts.

  4. Till we meet in heaven dear Sister in Christ. Peace to the Family in this time of grief. Fowler Family (Dillon RD Baptist Church)

Barb was a sweetheart! She played at our wedding in 1978 at Gospel Fellowship Church in Rawson. She always was so supportive of us in everything we did. One of the sweetest ladies we have ever known. Wonderful testimony. I am sure she has probably gotten together with my brother Craig by now to talk about how good God is. And no doubt has gotten together with my father-in-law, Harold Rettig to praise the Lord together. This Earth is now the less but Heaven is now the greater. Psalm 116:15 – “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of one of His saints.” Phil and Bev – please know you are in our thoughts and prayers. May God be your strength and comfort. We wish we could be there but we are here in Santiago, Chile – but our hearts are with you during this difficult time.
