William H. Ohler American Veteran

William Howard Ohler, 86, of Findlay passed away peacefully on Thursday,
November 3,2011 at Birchaven Village, after a brief illness. Bill was a devoted family man and loving husband to his wife of 60 years, Audrey. His life’s accomplishments are personified through his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bill
was born on December 16, 1924 to the late Rollo and Mable (Karns) Ohler at home in Prairie Depot, now called Wayne, Ohio. Based in the Phillipine Islands, Bill served his country in the United State Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater of Operations with the 779th Tank Battalion.

Following his service, Bill began a career with Burroughs Corporation as a regional service technician repairing “adding machines” and the first digital calculators. This work evolved into training and repair expertise in modern computer technology. Bill enjoyed fishing and camping with his family at Otsego Lake in Michigan. He often referred to himself as a “country boy”. He greatly enjoyed WWII history and was proud to participate in the first Hancock County Honor Flight in 2009 where he visited Washington DC and the WWII monument.

Bill is survived by his wife, Audrey (Schreiber) Ohler; children, Denise (Bill) Farison, Sue Ohler, Howard (Vickie) Ohler, Jan (deceased) (Ken) Burns, Mary (Brad -deceased) Beilharz , and Willa (Doug)Ebersole; grandchildren, Deanne (Jeff) Chaney, Jean (Tom) Renk, Jordan (Libby) Ohler, Bryce (Nickie) Beilharz, Bethany (Mike) Needler, Kenny (Rickie) Beilharz, Tony Farison, Drew Ohler, Blaine Beilharz, and Brooke Ebersole; 8 great-grandchildren; brother Glenn (Pat) Ohler; and sisters Anna Davies, and Mary Swain. Bill was preceded in death by a sister, Elsie McCoy.

He will be remembered fondly and deeply missed by his loving family and friends.

ends and family may visit on Monday from 11- 1 p.m. at the HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions in Bill’s name may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

    Hi Ohler’s You all have my sincere sympathy.Howard wish I could come up but my thoughts are with you and the family during this time. I know how your feeling right now.I just was telling some friends last week about our childhood growing up and the “snow forts” we used to make and your dad helping your sisters and lobbing ice ball shells at our fort and penetrating ours and putting holes in it till it fell. god bless you all. and you have my email. sgf55@aol.com.
