Richard Joe Stacy, 84, of Findlay, Ohio passed away on April 13, 2017 at 9:05 in the morning surrounded by his wife and family. Richard was born on August 12, 1932 to Lynn and Margaret Stacy of Findlay, Ohio. He grew up on the Stacy farm with his brothers, Albert, John, Max and Ronald.

He is survived by brother Albert (Barbara) Stacy, brother Max (Marjorie) Stacy, brother Ronald (Susan) Stacy and sister-in-law Sharon Stacy.

He was the oldest son and loved playing sports. During high school at Van Buren he played football, basketball, baseball and wrestling. He was undefeated in wrestling and proud of it. Richard went on to marry his high school sweetheart, Joanne, on June 9, 1951, before heading to Virginia to serve in the United States Army where he served from 1952 – 1954 as Staff Sergeant. Richard and Joanne were married for 65 wonderful years. Together they raised three children, Michael (Debra) Stacy of Van Buren, Ohio, Linda (Tim) Carles of Van Buren, Ohio, and Lisa (David) Wolfe-Erickson of Findlay, Ohio. Upon returning to Findlay, Richard followed in his family’s roots, he continued farming and started working for the United States Postal Service. He decided to start selling insurance in the evenings. In 1955, Richard and Joanne founded Stacy Insurance Agency. Their commitment, dedication and long sacrificed hours grew their business from a side garage on North Main Street in Findlay to one of the largest independent insurance agencies in Northwest Ohio. Recently, celebrated 67 years of business in the community. Richard treated each employee like family. His welcoming smile and kind heart left each client feeling content and well protected as part of his own family.

Richard served as the President of the Farmers Club, Findlay Independent Insurance Agents and Findlay Jaycees. He was a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He loved serving his community and was proud to be from Findlay. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Parish and the Findlay County Club. After retiring in 2003, you could catch him golfing with all of his friends or on the beach enjoying his sweetheart, JoJo. Richard loved his grandchildren and enjoyed supporting all of their interest wherever that might take him. Stacey (Donald) Foltz of Van Buren, Ohio, Jill (David) Caldwell of Stowe, Ohio, Matthew (Lynae) Stacy of McComb, Ohio, Errol and Andrew Wolfe of Findlay, Ohio and Sadie and Bradyn Erickson of Findlay, Ohio. Along with his great-grandchildren, Hunter and Carson Foltz of Van Buren, Ohio.

Richard was known as “Gee” to his grandchildren who loved him dearly. Richard was a loyal Ohio sports fan. The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Cavaliers were his pride and joy. He’d hardly miss a game. Many will remember his Ohio State Buckeye vans with his musical tunes. He would light up with that twinkle in his eyes and contagious smile that made every person feel loved. His family will continue to honor all the values he stood for throughout his 84 years.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Bridge Home Health and Hospice or Cancer Patient Services. There will be a Mass on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel, 750 Bright Road, Findlay, Ohio 45840. The family will be available for calling hours at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Followed by a Celebration of Life Open House from 12:30 – 3:30 p.m. at the Findlay Country Club, 1500 Country Club Drive, Findlay, Ohio 45840.
